Shaping the Future

Students from Colston’s Girls’ School invited to a forum at the House of Commons

From the Department for International Development.

Habon Duale and Rahma Duale, students at Colston’s Girls’ School, supported by Forward UK, have been dedicated members of a Youth Panel to develop an event called #Youthforchange to kickstart the movement for girls’ rights.  They also played a leading role in Girls Summit 2014 to help end Female Genital Mutilation and child, early and forced marriage in a generation.

The department for International Development has written to CGS expressing their gratitude to the girls for their involvement in the creation of #Youthforchange, and stating that they helped provide a platform for other young people to speak out about issues that affect them directly and inspired other leaders of the future.

Habon Duale and Rahma Duale, have been invited by the Secretary of State to attend a meeting at the House of Commons in September to hear their ideas and discuss the next steps for the Youth Panel to build on the momentum from their past events.
