Most mums and dads applying for places ahead of the January deadline will be au fait with the schools regarded highly due to their academic performance and Ofsted rating as well as those leaving much to be desired.IT is the time of year when parents are busy touring schools before making arguably one of the most important decisions of their lives – choosing where they want their child to start their formal education. But this year there will be two unfamiliar names to choose from which will be seen as unknown quantities. Fairlawn School in Montpelier and Oasis Academy Marksbury Road in Bedminster are new schools which will welcome their first intake of pupils next September.  Fairlawn School, run by the Colston’s Girls’ School Trust, will be based in the former Fairfield Secondary School building. Work on the conversion of the Grade II listed building is scheduled to start in January with a view to the two form entry primary for a total of 420 pupils being open by September and complete by February 2016
